Position Summary |
EITS is seeking qualified candidates for a Network Administrator Specialist position to support data networks and network technologies. This is highly complex work involving network administration, troubleshooting, and testing of new equipment and techniques. Work is performed independently and reviewed by observation of results obtained. |

- Knowledge of IP networking with Layer 2 and 3 networks
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. |

Configures, installs, and supports routing and switching equipment for campus. (50%)
a. Provide engineering and support for the routing infrastructure of the University network.
b. Configure, maintain, and install, routers/switches including
IOS upgrades.
c. Assist team leads in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting
VPN,
NAC, Wireless, VoIP, Teams Phones, IP cameras, Emergency Call Stations and other network technologies.
d. Works with Server Administration to implement/support technologies that are critical to network mission, including:
DNS,
DHCP, Authentication (Active Directory,
RADIUS, E-Directory), and monitoring applications.

Network Fault Management - Including routing, switching, video conferencing, load balancing, and all other network related problems
a. Determines and initiates appropriate and immediate actions needed to restore normal services with minimal down time.
b. Investigates recurring and related operating system failures/inefficiencies by reviewing system logs, dumps and other information from clients or technical personnel.
c. Establish the correct priority for reported network faults, document fully the communications pathway involved, make any necessary changes and document the solution.
d. Works with staff in Information Security to supplement incident response and crisis management needs.
e. Shares responsibility for routine and emergency system maintenance on a 24O7 basis. |

a. Provide detailed planning for assigned tasks, to include work breakdowns, timelines, and risk assessment.
b. Provide detailed network documentation and diagrams for proposed, altered, and existing network paths.
c. Prepares documentation for inventory and maintenance of
NOC equipment. |

a. Responsible for notifications to campus.
b. Responsible for completing duties assigned through TeamDynamix change management system.
c. Responsible for producing departmental how-to documentation.
d. Responsible for monitoring the Solarwinds system and responding to outages.
e. Performs related work as required.
f. Supports Network Information Center operations as needed.
g. Supports and responds to data center cabling requests which includes pulling fiber and copper throughout the data center above and below the floor. Testing and documentation upon completion.
