Job Title: Seasonal Part Time Kettle Route Driver

FLSA Status: Seasonal, Part Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Kettle Coordinator/Assistant Kettle Coordinator

Schedule: Monday-Saturday

Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $18/hour

Closing Date: 09/22/2025

Benefits: Seasonal; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:



  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)


Function

The Kettle Route Driver's primary function is to facilitate the safe and efficient operation of Red Kettle collection sites throughout the community. The Driver will oversee the set-up, safe operation, and quality of work of the Bell Ringers.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Drive kettle routes as assigned. Safely deliver Bell Ringers and equipment in accordance with the route schedule.
  • Ensure all kettle buckets are locked, and the stand is placed in the best location at the start of each shift.
  • Conduct vehicle pre-safety checks of brakes, mirrors, headlights, tires condition, etc. before the start of each drive. On snowy days, warm up the vehicle and clear all windows of snow prior to departure.
  • Encourage Bell Ringers to dress warmly and safely, maintain a positive presentation to public, and interact with expressions of kindness and gratitude to everyone.
  • Report any vehicle accident, damage, and/or defect to Corps Officer immediately.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness daily. Ensure that vehicles are refueled when they fall below 1/2 a tank of gas.
  • Communicate all time off or change of schedule needs to Kettle Coordinator with sufficient advance notice to allow time to find adequate back up coverage.


Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications



  • Education/Experience

    • High school graduate or equivalent, good understanding of non-profit organization with knowledge of "best practices.


  • Qualifications

    • Clean Driver's Record
    • Ability to drive in inclement weather.
    • Driving


      • A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
      • An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.


    • Background Check
    • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.

  • Ability to maneuver.

  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to access and produce information from the computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.
