MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or five (5) years' experience in an electrical or industrial company with occupational safety responsibilities required.
  • A comparable combination of education and experience in an electrical or industrial company will be considered.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or occupational Safety.
  • Five years' experience as Safety Director.
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer.
  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Ten years' experience within the Electrical Industry.
  • Five years' construction experience.


KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES


  • A comparable combination of education and experience in an electrical or industrial company will be considered.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of OSHA/ODOT/MSHA regulations and a thorough technical understanding of electrical or industrial operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and other applicable safety standards
  • Represent the company in safety-related forums, associations, and community initiatives
  • Provide training and education to employees and subcontractors on electrical safety practices.
  • Working knowledge of worker compensation/insurance
  • OSHA VPP program
  • Ability to present in front of large groups
  • Strong persuasive skills in dealing with top management and with line managers and supervisors.
  • Ability to organize safety and occupational health material into lesson plans and present the material to line managers and safety committee effectively.
  • Must possess a working knowledge business practice.
  • 50% travel
  • Valid driver's license required.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the company by formulating plans and policies that achieve overall corporate objectives, ensuring profitable growth, and fulfilling company's commitment to the community.
  • Study, master, and promote the concept of HPI and just culture.
  • Assures that operating companies are maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, employment, and labor laws to ensure company-operatingpractices legally conform to corporate policies and procedures.
  • Full oversight of all operating company's safety culture and programs.
  • Research, develop, and implement safety programs to enhance, encourage, and promote safe working rules, practices, and conditions. To prevent, detect, and correct unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Maintain industry peer relationships to develop continuity with changing processes and techniques and effectively communicate these with the operating company personnel and management.
  • Assists in the development of the Company Strategic Plan.
  • Assists with due diligence for acquisitions - ensures that all Health & Safety related items are reviewed, and implications are assessed during due diligence process.
  • Leads efforts to ensure the organization attains continual improvement in being a greater and safer place to work for employees.
  • Oversees the workplace improvement initiative and development of action plans in response to survey results.
  • Responsible for designing, directing, coordinating, implementing, and auditing the performance of safety programs, processes, and initiatives.
  • Oversees investigation of all accidents resulting in death of employees, accidents involving multiple hospitalizations or major property or equipment damage.
  • Performs periodic job-site inspections and prepare reports.
  • Counsels' on-site safety directors of operating companies to ensure compliance with all safety, accident and fire programs, procedures, and policies. Represents the
