ABOUT THIS ROLE St. Michael's is hiring an Accounting Associate to support our Finance team at our Headquarters office located in Woodbridge, VA. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and helping the team meet critical deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and a passion for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. LOCATION Woodbridge, VA (onsite with the potential of being hybrid)
WHO YOU ARE
- Experience with accounts payable/receivable, reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions like SUM, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize task and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members, vendors, customers, and other departments
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data with integrity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop is a plus
- Highschool diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred in accounting or related field
- 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process accounts payable/receivable transactions in a timely manner
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements and general ledger accounts
- Assist with payroll processing, year-end W2 and 1099 documentation, and other related duties
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, reports, and records
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting files and documentation
- Assist with audits and other accounting-related projects as needed
- Maintain company founded committee's financial bookkeeping records
