Position Purpose |
The Financial Specialist collaborates closely with Central Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Human Resources, and Department Fiscal Administrators to ensure that all HR/Payroll and Financial transactions are executed promptly, accurately, and in full compliance with Dartmouth policies. The Specialist delivers a high level of customer service to the Dartmouth community by adopting a proactive and collaborative approach, combined with technical expertise and automated tools within the financial management systems. |

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp |
Associates plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience |

- Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and outside vendors with exceptional customer service and listening skills.
- Able to manage their own tasks, is aware of daily processing deadlines, and can work on multiple assignments accurately under general supervision.
- Moderate experience in problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Basic accounting skills.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.

Transactional Review and Processing
- Reviews transactions to ensure completeness and compliance with organizational policies with assistance from the Manager as needed.
- Reviews transactions for potential fraud and unauthorized personal charges.
- Ensures timely processing of transactions to meet departmental service level agreements (SLAs) and supplier terms.
- Prioritizes workload effectively to guarantee that all workflow queues are reviewed
- Investigates customer concerns and escalates them to the Manager when appropriate
- Collaborate with management to standardize processes, enhance efficiency, and drive continual improvement
