Qualifications
Position Summary Responsible for all tax planning, preparation, analysis compliance. Position Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:15am to 5:00pm with the ability to work additional hours from January through April 15th. Job Description Essential Skills\Requirements:
- Minimum of three years of experience in bookkeeping, tax planning, tax preparation and analysis.
- Competent to resolve complex tax matters.
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Knowledge of Ultra Tax & Accounting CS.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and exercise discretion and judgement in making decisions which affect Ulster Savings Bank and its subsidiaries.
- Ability to promote Ulster Savings Bank and its subsidiaries financial products and services and advise as to the appropriate financial product(s) to correspond to their financial needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare income tax returns for individual, corporation, partnership, estate and trust.
- Prepare monthly bookkeeping and financial reports.
- Prepare sales tax returns.
- Review bookkeeping, payroll and sales tax returns prepared by others
- Review financial records, such as prior tax return forms, income statements, and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare appropriate returns.
- Interview client to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances.
- Consult tax law handbooks or bulletins to determine procedure for preparation of atypical returns.
- Occasionally verify tax forms prepared by others to detect errors in preparation or procedure.
- Cross-sell bank services. Identify potential opportunities and cross sell all bank products and\or services to new and existing clients. Continually prospect to create new lead streams both within and outside of the institution. Drive financial performance through profitable revenue growth, goal attainment and exceptional customer service.
- Participate in community affairs to increase the bank's visibility to enhance new Business opportunities.
- Ensure the protection of the bank's interest in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to bank policy and the various laws and regulations applicable to the department operations.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all payments are promptly collected.
- Monitor E-file procedures.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
