Job Description

The Clinical Technologies R&D group at Promega is seeking a motivated summer intern to support assay development for detection of blood-based biomarkers and infectious pathogens. This role involves hands-on biological sample processing, including work with plasma, serum, swabs, and other clinical matrices. Interns will gain experience in benchtop molecular workflows, data analysis, and method development under BSL-1 and BSL-2 laboratory conditions. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with biological samples, adheres to good lab safety practices, and is enthusiastic about translational research in diagnostics and human health.

JOB OBJECTIVE: Principally involved in helping with the execution of laboratory experiments. Carry out and understand intent of experiments with direction. Training position. Receives daily supervision on routine work.

2. Become competent in the application of one technique.

3. Prepare technical data at rudimentary level.

8. Work at bench.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be currently enrolled in a degree program in the life sciences (biology, chemistry, etc.).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to work at lab bench or fume hood for extended period of time.

2. Ability to wear protection gear (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, etc.).

3. Ability to operate a computer.
