This role supports the global data governance framework - ensuring our data is cared for through its complete lifecycle, as an enterprise asset. The Data Steward partners across the company to ensure data is created, managed, and effectively utilized as trusted enterprise assets - which leads to understood, controlled and reliable data. One of the most critical skills for success in this role is the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to show the value of the data stewardship function and help evangelize the importance of data. This position will require a combination of skills, from technical and business acumen to analysis and interpersonal skills.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Define and manage business data by ensuring clarity, proper usage, and alignment with data policies, security, privacy, and quality standards within assigned data domains.
  • Lead regulatory and audit data efforts by identifying, defining, and validating data in collaboration with IT and compliance teams to meet legal and audit requirements.
  • Promote data literacy by building a culture of learning through training on data understanding, creation, analysis, and usage across internal and external sources.
  • Oversee the data lifecycle including curation, operational and administrative management, and ongoing data cleansing to maintain data integrity.
  • Establish and monitor data quality and metadata standards, including defining rules, tracking adherence, and reporting on data quality and metadata completeness.
  • Drive data governance initiatives by implementing and enforcing data standards, resolving integration issues, and supporting process improvements across business areas.
  • Collaborate across teams including Data Stewardship communities, Global Data Governance, and regulatory partners to ensure cohesive data management practices.
  • Communicate effectively with business and IT stakeholders to address issues, share progress, and support strategic decision-making through accurate and trusted data.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience in data management, governance, data quality, or related disciplines; experience with structured data processes and enterprise systems preferred.
  • Data Expertise: Strong understanding of data stewardship and governance concepts, with the ability to research data definitions, usage, and flow across systems and domains.
  • Analytical & Technical Skills: Proficient in data analysis, documentation, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL); familiarity with enterprise platforms like PLM, PIM, ERP, and B2B.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective in diverse settings and able to clearly convey complex concepts to senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Project & Time Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing conditions with minimal guidance.
  • Leadership & Influence: Capable of driving change, leading without formal authority, and influencing others through relationship-building and negotiation.
  • Learning & Adaptability: Curious and motivated to stay current with industry trends; quick to learn new systems and apply lessons from past experiences to improve performance.
  • Mindset & Behavior: Enterprise-oriented with a balance of flexibility and standardization; deadline-driven, inquisitive, and committed to continuous improvement and personal development.
