Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager to support our engineering and construction practices from one of our offices in Blue Bell, PA or Pennington, NJ offices or with the ability to work remotely from your home-office in Pennsylvania or New Jersey area. The position will plan, direct, and support a wide variety of environmental and construction projects including the construction of remediation systems, landfill containment or closure systems, roads, tanks, and occasionally building construction or demolition; supervise and coordinate the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, assuring the project is completed in a timely manner and within budget; work alongside clients, engineers, and environmental professionals involved in the construction process; and be part of the project management teams for multi-faceted, large civil and environmental remediation projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Identify and participate in new business development opportunities, proposal preparations, and negotiating scopes of work.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support evaluation and development of construction-related opportunities to support growth of our construction management and project delivery practices.
  • Develop preliminary construction estimates and schedules, in conjunction with technical project teams, to support needs of clients.
  • Interact with project personnel including contractors, project managers, engineers and clients to cultivate an integrated team approach through open lines of communication and participation in work progress meetings.
  • Support procurement of subcontractors, including bid document development, review and evaluation of contractor bids, drafting contract documents, and managing subcontractor procurement software and processes.
  • Create and apply project control frameworks, strategies, tools, and systems encompassing budgeting, earned value analysis, forecasting, and contingency monitoring.
  • Manage project schedules, dashboards, and reporting tools to ensure compliance across contracts, conduct time impact analyses (TIAs), float path reviews, and contingency monitoring.
  • Develop and/or interpret and apply technical specifications, construction drawings, and work plans.
  • Review and prepare detailed responses to contractor change orders, requests for information, and submittals in a timely manner.
  • Review, track, and approve contractors and subcontractors pay requests, invoices, and payments on a timely basis.
  • Review field documentation and laboratory tests of construction materials and verify their accuracy and compliance with the project specifications.
  • Draft and review, in conjunction with project team members, work plans, health and safety documents, and reports.
  • Prepare progress meeting agendas and meeting minutes in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Develop and prepare sampling, testing schedules, and detailed test data summaries.
  • Implement and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans (HASP) and the company's Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • The position requires a high school diploma and eleven (11) years of experience, an associate degree or a college diploma and a minimum nine (9) years of applicable experience, or a bachelor's degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects and a minimum of seven (7) years of applicable experience or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, ability and construction management skills.   • Prior experience managing large multi-task construction or environmental remediation projects and sophisticated estimating and scheduling techniques. (required)
  • Demonstrated project management experience in civil and environmental construction-related projects, including pre-construction, procurement, and implementation phases.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Windows based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, etc.). (required)
  • Knowledge of critical path method (CPM) software, such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6. (preferred).
  • Technical understanding of site investigation, construction quality assurance, and/or construction management procedures for civil, demolition, solid waste and/or environmental remediation projects. (required)
  • Ability to support multiple construction and environmental projects simultaneously. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required)
  • Ability to support field work and overnight travel to support project and business development opportunities. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation, for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $92,060/year / Maximum Salary: $108,305 /year (Pennington, NJ)
