McLean Hospital Adult Behavioral Health Partial Hospitalization Program
Staff Psychiatrist Position at McLean Hospital
Full Time
McLean Hospital, America's top-ranked psychiatric hospital, is inviting applications for a staff psychiatrist in a partial hospital care setting.
Who We Serve
McLean's Adult Behavioral Health Partial Hospital Program (BHP) is a generalist mental health program that offers short-term, insurance-based intensive day treatment for individuals with depression, bipolar spectrum disorders, anxiety, personality disorders, and/or thought disorders.
Partial Hospital Services
The BHP is grounded in our core commitment to evidence-based, person-centered care. Many individuals attend day programs after an inpatient psychiatric hospital stay or to prevent further worsening of symptoms that could require hospitalization. The program runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, and the typical length of stay is three weeks. Treatment emphasizes group therapy, structure, skill building, medication management, aftercare planning, and family coordination. Each patient undergoes a thorough initial assessment to create a personalized care plan based on specific diagnoses and symptoms, aiming to support stabilization and tailored treatment goals. To maintain treatment continuity, care is also coordinated with outpatient providers, community agencies, and primary care providers as appropriate. The BHP is also home to an extensive clinical research program, with opportunities for research collaboration within and across McLean departments.
The Staff Psychiatrist position will combine clinical care and teaching of Harvard Medical School residents and fellows. Salary and recruitment packages will be in accordance with Hospital policies. A Harvard Medical School appointment at the academic rank of Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor (full or part time) will be contingent on meeting the requirements for an HMS appointment.
