JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Analyst, working in an accredited commercial laboratory, is responsible for accurately performing standardized laboratory methods to generate reliable data. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to maintain the integrity of samples and data, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform routine and non-routine laboratory tests and analyses following established SOP's and adhering to state, federal, and other accrediting body requirements
  • Prepare and process samples and prepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, and media for sample analyses
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, including logbooks and equipment records, ensuring proper calibration and readiness for testing activities
  • Document and report test results and observations accurately, and maintain detailed records to ensure traceability and compliance with quality standards
  • Monitor and maintain daily work lists
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to support project goals and troubleshoot technical problems as they arise
  • Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMS
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field
  • Prior experience or coursework in laboratory methods and scientific analysis is strongly preferred
  • Basic knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting is preferred
  • Technical problem-solving skills and ability to work with, and troubleshoot, delicate laboratory equipment is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively organize and prioritize work lists
  • Time management and ability to perform multiple tasks at one time
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in math
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar data management software is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats

  • Requires high degree of manual dexterity and ability to stand for an extended period of time

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels
