PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Marks, cuts, fits together and bolts, clamps, or tack welds parts to secure in position for welding.
• Welds metal parts using a variety of welding processes, on a wide variety of joint configurations while working in positions both internal and external to the component on dissimilar material thicknesses.
• Produces a weldment from numerous components to completed product.
• Safely operates a variety of hoisting and rigging equipment.
• Ability to use MIG, & Plasma Torches.
• Works primarily with stainless steel parts and assemblies which are generally large, awkward, and heavy.
• Interprets and performs tasks such as layout, cutting and welding based on written work instructions and weld symbols. Understand and comply with workmanship standards and work independently as needed.
• Obtains proper fusion using care to perform a high quality, consistent welds and avoiding unnecessary weld spatter, burn through, crystallization or distortion.
• Interprets fabrication drawings, bills of material and is able to make calculations and check for compliance to specifications.
• Polishes, grinds, and cleans metal surfaces and welds as required.
• Operates hand trucks, carts, pallet trucks, and hoists for movement of materials.
• Detects defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties and reports to the supervisor or lead person.
• Must be willing to cross-train into other areas as required to meet production schedules and/or manufacturing needs.
• Must be able to work extra hours daily and on weekends as required.
• Must be able to work in a non-controlled climate - i.e. no air conditioning in the plant
• Completes all tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor/Manager of Manufacturing.
• Adheres to all Company Safety Programs, Rules and Regulations, and Employee Procedural Guidelines

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statement(s)

• Attention to Detail: Welders need to make clean lines and cuts when welding. Paying attention to the job at hand is necessary.
• Dexterity: MIG welders work with their hands, and need to be steady during the welding process.
• Strength: MIG welders often need to lift or hold heavy pieces of metal in place while welding.
• Stamina: MIG welders can expect long hours on their feet, often in hot conditions.
• Technical Skills: Welding equipment requires technical know-how, as does reading blueprints and understanding how the final product should look.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Welders should see flaws in welds or structural imperfections in the metal.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred

Experience:

• At least 2 years of on-the-job welding experience or a combination of on-the-job training and classroom training in metal fabrication and welding.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must successfully complete an in-house MIG welding test.

Computer Skills

Ability to perform alphanumeric data entry accurately to print drawings, make tags, and record data.

Certificates & Licenses

Ability to become forklift certified.

Other Requirements

Ability to legally accept employment in the United States. Ability to meet daily attendance requirements. Ability to wear personal protective equipment. Ability to meet productivity, quality, and safety requirements.

Compensation:

• $24 - $26.50

This job is performed in a factory that is not temperature-controlled. The noise level is loud. There are machines and moving parts. The employees are exposed to chemicals, mists, vapors, dust, and particulates that are part of our process.
