Position Info

Viracon is a leader in architectural glass. We are the largest single site glass fabricator in the U.S. and one of the largest in the world. We offer over a million customizable options for customers unique specifications in the architectural glass industry.

We are looking for an Estimator to join our team! In this position you will have a hand in the process of building some of the most elegant large-scale buildings across the world.

Function:
In this role, this individual must have the ability to process quotations utilizing the Word format and the Viper system with a high degree of accuracy to ensure the integrity of all transactions. Managing an assigned customer territory will be required. This includes working with the customers to resolve complaints, concerns and issues. This individual must possess knowledge of Viracon's products, manufacturing capabilities and limitations and work closely in a partnering relationship, which fosters the sales department's team philosophy.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a sales territory within a specific regional group. May be assigned to manage major customer accounts and/or major projects.
  • With minimal supervision, provide direct customer contact throughout the bidding process.
  • Ability to process and manage a high volume of bid requests. Be willing to update project quotes to match final product selection and pricing.
  • Assist sales team members during employee absences to ensure appropriate and timely management of specific territory responsibilities. Cover for others when assigned to do so.
  • Participate as a trainer and mentor for new employees and for all sales team members when needed.
  • Participate in customer visits and project kick-off meetings.
  • Be dedicated to resolving all products and pricing issues prior to receiving project purchase orders to eliminate questions, concerns and problems for the project manager.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of customer personnel and with our Field Sales Representatives in order to develop a working knowledge and understanding of the market place.
  • With a high degree of accuracy, be able to obtain and verify quotation as well as communicate quickly and accurately all changes to related departments to ensure the integrity of all transactions
  • Assess customer needs, and fulfill project requirements by interpreting information supplied by the customer; taking into account Viracon's production capabilities and limitations.
  • Have thorough knowledge of Viracon's pricing policies and procedures. Accurately assign pricing to all projects bid along with following all processes identified for the estimating role.
  • Have a strong knowledge base of competitive product and market activity.
  • Possess the ability to read, understand, and respond to architectural specifications via a specification exception letter.
  • Actively participate in the quote follow-up process and manage quoted work through the forecast phase.
  • Target and negotiate the sale of projects in conjunction with field sales representatives.
  • Maintain project files with all required estimating documentation. Track and record all project quotations developing bidder's files when necessary and record feedback and related activity. Create job files for all forecasted projects.
  • Have the ability to provide the sales management team with information and complete special projects that fall outside of the typical job requirements.
  • Utilize all technical tools available such as Viper, Microsoft Office products, Freight Calculator, the Intranet, Technical Tools and all other Viracon standard databases.
  • Participate in handling customer complaints and resolving customer grievances.
  • Possess working knowledge of information available in Viracon's ISO documentation and initiate changes when needed.
  • Performs duties in accordance with the Business Process Documentation.
  • Participates in Viracon's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sales Management Team.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-8 years of experience as an Estimator I preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Fully knowledgeable of Viracon's systems and processes.
  • Fully knowledgeable of the estimating role.
  • Excellent detail and self-organizational skills.
  • Ability to actively participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to identify solutions for difficult customer situations with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle high stress level.
  • Knowledge of fractions, decimals and geometric patterns.
  • Apply professional, effective English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Functional P.C. skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel occasionally if required.
  • Possess excellent phone skills.
  • Ability to get along well with others.
  • Ability to take supervision.
  • Regular, full-time attendance.
  • Safely perform essential job responsibilities.
  • Promotes Viracon in a positive manner and obeys all policies.

Salary Range

  • $56,000 - $70,000
