Spring GAPP Intern

Steptoe LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 firm, is actively seeking a legislative and regulatory intern to support the initiatives of the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) Group. The intern will assist members of the GAPP team in monitoring and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and political developments for a variety of clients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include researching public policy issues, covering congressional hearings, drafting memos, arranging and coordinating meetings on Capitol Hill, and attending meetings on Capitol Hill.

This is a part-time position, approximately 20-25 hours per week, and is intended for the Spring 2025 semester (January through the end of May).

Essential Functions

* Research and draft clear, well-reasoned analyses of legislative, regulatory, and political developments.
* Collaborate with the team to develop and implement advocacy strategies.
* Attend external meetings and events as a representative of Steptoe and its clients.
* Interact professionally with policymakers and their staff.
* Correspond with clients and other relevant stakeholders.
* Conduct research in support of GAPP initiatives.
* Track congressional hearings and prepare reports and analyses on relevant issues.
* Support members of the GAPP practice group in monitoring and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and political developments for a diverse range of clients.

Non-Essential Functions

* Complete other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

* Currently pursuing a four-year college degree from an accredited university
* Demonstrated interest and some relevant experience in legislative affairs and/or political science (Capitol Hill experience is a plus)
