JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an Exercise Specialist to provide direct and indirect care to patients at our Duke Triangle Heart Associates clinic at our Durham, NC location.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Participate in screening individuals' medical histories and current Health status to identify major health risk factors; administer stress testing procedures in conjunction with cardiac imaging (Nuclear Perfusion and Echocardiography). Recognizes symptom changes & signs of problems; understands absolute and relative contraindications to stress testing. Knows appropriate medical response / processes. Initiates first responder care.
  • Placement and scanning of ambulatory cardiac (short and long term monitors) and blood pressure monitors following established protocols. Includes extensive working knowledge of EPIC including scheduling, documentation, and reporting. Work with multiple ambulatory monitoring software for monitor download, scanning, and event summaries. Alert and document critical events to reading provider(s) as necessary.
  • Assist Nuclear Medicine Technologist with required documentation for IAC-Nuclear accreditation, NC State Radiologic Imaging documentation, and assist Echocardiography Technical Director with documentation for IAC-Echocardiography.
  • Precept new hires, facilitate onboarding tasks and update orientation process as needed in conjunction with manager. Provide education to staff.
  • Identify diagnostic stress lab needs; manages appropriate level of supplies and monitors equipment maintenance. Assess the stress-testing environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, Joint commission, etc.).
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance workflows in collaboration with clinic leadership. Assist in other areas of the clinic including patient intake and rooming, EKGs, and other tasks as designated by manager. Update and assist with protocol and policies.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science/Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field required.
  • No previous experience required, however 1 year applicable experience preferred.
  • AHA BLS certification; ACLS within a year of hire.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • ACSM certification (Exercise Physiologist or Clinical Exercise Physiologist).
  • One year of clinical exercise testing experience.
  • Previous course/experience in ECG interpretation.



JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
