Job Summary


The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for working closely with business units throughout CSBS to gain an in-depth understanding of CSBS's business strategy, processes, services, and information needs to identify changes that lead to business improvements. Working within a matrix IT team, the BA primarily supports small-to-medium sized projects and enhancements, focusing on requirements gathering, documentation, and analysis under moderate guidance. The BA collaborates with stakeholders and IT to ensure solutions meet business needs and supports testing and delivery.

  • Elicit and document business requirements for small-to-medium complexity projects and enhancements.
  • Break down high-level requirements into detailed requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows with guidance from senior analysts or managers.
  • Clearly articulate and document business requirements in a format consumable by developers, QA testers, and business stakeholders.
  • Support sprint planning, backlog prioritization, refinement, and demo sessions by ensuring requirements are clearly defined and testable.
  • Partner with QA to validate test cases against requirements and assist with defect resolution during testing.
  • Conduct research and basic analysis to support business case development and application enhancements.
  • Participate in requirements workshops, sprint retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to capture and share feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with project stakeholders primarily at the working level to ensure understanding and alignment of requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product owners to triage UAT feedback and manage change requests effectively.
  • Maintain and update requirements documentation in alignment with release schedules, ensuring accuracy and version control.

  • Participate in special projects or research assignments as requested.
  • Stay current on industry trends.



Minimum Qualifications


To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of business analysis, requirements analysis, software development, or testing experience on small-to-medium cross-functional projects (or equivalent combination).


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency performing system analysis, modeling, and testing.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) methods, including Agile.
  • Strong listening and analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously under direction.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and completeness in documentation and analysis.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to build productive relationships across functions.
