Role and Responsibilities
- Oversee all functions of the lab to include, but not limited to, lab set up, schedule of lab moves, material/supplies ordering, compliance of lab and equipment, calibrations, stockpile blending, monitoring aggregate inventory, HMA production, lab maintenance, and cleanliness/sample retain disposal.
- Ownership of all current and future mixes from specific site by tracking results and trends from each mix.
- Develop reports on status of mixes and materials to identify potential risks.
- Collaborate with plant foreman and plant manager for site related activities.
- Review upcoming schedule and understand what projects will be coming out of the site.
- Ensure all mixes are on the Wis-DOT Approved Product List(APL).
- Strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all tasks.
- Conduct sampling and standardized testing of construction materials as per agency or organizational guidelines.
- Execute standard mathematical computations in line with testing procedures.
- Accurately communicate and document test results to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Record all test data post-testing in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and maintain organized hard copies of records.
- Document all sampling, testing, and subsequent actions taken.
- Analyze test outcomes and assist in making necessary process control adjustments.
- Ensure equipment functionality and timely calibrations as per schedule.
- Oversee regular equipment maintenance and ensure malfunctioning equipment is marked out of service.
- Uphold a professional standard of cleanliness and maintenance for all equipment, facilities, and vehicles.
- Engage professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Value safety and ethics in all tasks.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned.

What do you need:
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Must be punctual and dependable.
- Have the ability to work varied hours with a flexible schedule.
- Be able to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in dirty and dusty environments.
- The ability to frequently lift 50+ pounds.
- Be capable of performing mathematical calculations required for necessary daily job duties.
- Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- The ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, must be a self-starter.
Preferred education or qualifications:
- Civil Engineering Technology - Associate Degree
- Laboratory Science Technology - Associate Degree
- Highway Technician Certification Program/WisDOT Certifications for materials testing
- Related or equivalent fields or experience
