Production Lead

Staffmark is hiring a Production Lead in Essex, CT! Take charge of machinery setup and tooling in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this hands-on role, you'll ensure smooth production starts, maintain quality standards, and support machine operators-perfect for a skilled mechanical expert looking to make an impact.

Pay: $21-$24/hr

Shift: 2nd Shift | 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM

Responsibilities

• Perform tooling and die setups on presses, mills, threading machines, roller markers, and more
• Document all setups, following standard work instructions and tooling records
• Conduct first-article inspections with Quality to confirm parts meet specifications
• Support machine operators by troubleshooting setup issues and providing guidance
• Maintain and update setup sheets, die records, and maintenance logs
• Perform light machine maintenance to prevent downtime
• Assist with cross-functional production tasks when needed
• Provide feedback to engineering or tooling teams on setup limitations or issues
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts for tooling efficiency and setup reduction

Qualifications

• 3+ years in tool & die, machining, or mechanical setup in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of press operations, tool alignment, die safety, and machine setup standards
• Experience reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work instructions
• Proficient with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with industrial machines and tools
• Familiarity with machine maintenance and setup troubleshooting
• Experience with small-batch or custom manufacturing
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across production, quality, and engineering teams
• Physical requirements: standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and moving throughout the facility
