JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Director, Global Technical Advancement plays a pivotal role within the Market Strategy and Growth group of FHI 360 Global Operations. Tasked with driving strategic growth and impact, this position oversees the Global Technical Advancement team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and fostering collaboration both internally and externally. Reporting directly to the VP, the Sr. Director leads a diverse team of technical experts, navigating complex issues and spearheading initiatives to secure new business opportunities and advance FHI 360's strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Complexity & Problem Solving:

  • Leverages market analysis and organizational strengths to identify priority areas for growth.

  • Aligns staffing and resources accordingly.

  • Works closely with senior leadership and business development teams.

  • Develops and executes strategies to secure projects across diverse funders.

  • Continuously osters thought leadership within Centers.

Discretion & Impact:

  • Serves as a high-profile advocate and spokesperson for FHI 360 across technical areas.

  • Shapes market strategies and drives business growth.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure coherence and effectiveness in achieving Market Strategy and Growth objectives.

  • Maximizes impact and visibility.

Collaboration & Interaction:

  • Cultivates collaborative partnerships with funders, government entities, and stakeholders.

  • Enhances FHI 360's reputation and informs strategic decision-making.

  • Serves as a representative to external stakeholders.

  • Fosters relationships critical to organizational success.

  • Facilitates internal knowledge sharing and best practices dissemination.

  • Promotes a culture of achievement and accountability.

Management & Supervision:

  • Leads the Global Technical Advancement team, managing a team of technical experts and their direct reports, ensuring a minimum of 30% project coverage.

  • Ensures effective team management and adherence to locally led development principles.

  • Supports technical capacity strengthening and coordination across Market Strategy and Growth teams.

  • Fosters an environment conducive to innovation and collaboration.

  • Embraces other duties as assigned, contributing to the team's multifaceted and evolving responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Visionary leader with extensive experience in international development and strategic planning.

  • Strong project management, business development, and personnel management skills.

  • Proven track record of integrating cross-cutting issues into technical areas of work.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences, International Development, Human Development, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 15 years related experience, managing nonprofit programs and technical delivery in international development settings; 12 years and a master's degree; 9 years and a PhD; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience to perform job responsibilities effectively.

  • Minimum 8 years in leadership and management, specifically with operational oversight of multiple departments. Experience in management of technical programs, research, and quality services and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or its International Equivalent in a related field.

The expected US Based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.

Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 7% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

US Based Hiring Salary Range: USD 160,000 - 190,000 annual
