Overview

This position is primarily work from home, but candidates should be available for onsite work as needed.

The HIPAA Privacy Compliance Analyst coordinates efforts across the Carle organization to identify HIPAA privacy issues, initiatives and standards and implement HIPAA privacy policies and procedures. The role is responsible for conducting privacy case investigations and reporting violations to government authorities and patients when required. Additional responsibilities include reviewing business associate agreements to ensure third-party compliance with HIPAA privacy requirements, develop and deliver HIPAA privacy training and education, and organizing and gathering privacy case investigation data for reporting to organizational committees.


Qualifications

Certifications: Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) within 1 year - Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA); Certified in Healthcare Privacy (CHPS - AHIMA or CHPC - HCCA) within 2 years - Varies, Education: Experience In Lieu of Education; Bachelor's Degree: Related Field, Work Experience: HIPAA privacy requirements
Responsibilities

Conducts investigations of potential privacy violations including responding to privacy concerns/reports made by the public, patients, and/or Carle staff.Develops and disseminates educational material to Carle employees regarding HIPAA privacy requirements and updates including annual privacy compliance training, new employee orientation, and new resident orientation.Develops, implements and maintains HIPAA privacy policies and procedures.Provides in-services when requested by department leadership or as a result of a departmental privacy concern.Assists with privacy risk assessments and ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with the entity's other compliance and operational assessment functions.In coordination with the Corporate Integrity Officer and Director of Corporate Compliance, supports the privacy function of Carle and works with administration, legal counsel and other related parties to represent the organization's information privacy interests such as business associate agreements with external parties and governmental bodies.Reports to senior management on new privacy legislation and regulations to communicate the potential impact on the organization and then coordinates with relevant individuals/departments to implement changes necessary to comply with any new legislation/regulations.Participates on relevant organizational committees as requested.Supports all levels of staff at Carle with policy guidance and serves as a resource for questions regarding privacy and release of information.Collaborates with the Director of Corporate Compliance to develop and execute the annual Compliance Work Plan.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $27.78per hour - $46.39per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
