Summary

The Food Service Worker is responsible for the preparation of food, presenting and serving food to customers. The Food Service Worker is also responsible for preparation of food, properly storing food in designated areas in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. The focus of the Food Service Worker includes general food service work, maintaining sanitation standards in the preparation, service, and dining room facilities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Prep work including, washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients.
  • Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator while maintaining all safety standards.
  • Properly stores foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures.
  • Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils.
  • Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
  • Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
  • Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner following outlined steps of service.
  • Resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor.
  • Interacts with co-workers to ensure compliance with company service standards, and inventory and cash control procedures.
  • Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Customer Service Responsibilities

Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behaviors as well as encourages, coaches, and monitors the same in team members. This individual should consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with co-workers and deal discretely and sensitively with confidential information.

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient/family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Communication and customer service skills, good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions
  • Ability to use standard measures required

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • 1 - 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Food Handler's Permit by applicable state and county.
  • ServSafe training and certificate as required by applicable state and county.
