Responsibilities

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to support the H-60 Multi-Mission Helicopters Program Office (PMA 299) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will be providing Senior Class Desk support and technical leadership to identify, diagnose and resolve complex engineering issues that require a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems and subsystems. The candidate will coordinate engineering support with NAVAIR's engineering divisions, external field engineering facilities and test sites to ensure that engineering resources are applied to issues in a timely and effective manner to ensure effective program execution. The candidate will provide engineering support of aircraft and weapons systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.

The selected candidate will be responsible for not limited to:

  • Leads the execution of complex engineering tasks.
  • Has demonstrated knowledge in the area of engineering expertise.
  • Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan; and design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military aircraft and weapons systems.
  • Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
  • Applies systems engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.
  • Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Education: Must hold a Technical or Scientific MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university. Allowable substitution: Must hold a Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university and must have an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Minimum years of experience: Must have at least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DoD systems. Must have demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise.
  • Key Skills:
    • Former NAVAIR Chief Engineer or Senior Class Desk experience is preferred.
    • Experienced in providing Class Desk support, including coordination with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Fleet stakeholders.
    • Strong understanding of Fleet operations, operator needs and mission environments.
    • Knowledge of NAVAIR engineering policies, processes, and technical review requirements.
    • Expertise in supporting Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) and developing engineering documentation such as risk assessments, safety reports, and technical plans.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate program risks, resolve technical issues, and communicate effectively across program leadership levels.
    • Background in supporting acquisition lifecycle phases, from requirements development through sustainment.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Compensation

Senior Level: At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements. The general salary range for this position is $70,000-$200,000; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms.
