Overview

Performs plant-level safety and environmental compliance duties under limited supervision. Acts as liaison to applicable federal, state, and local agencies for assigned facility(s). Implements Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs to protect employees and reduce risk. Partners with plant leadership to implement preventative measures to reduce the overall risk of injury and environmental concerns. Investigates EHS incidents to identify root cause and recommend and implement corrective actions.



Responsibilities

    Implements health and safety programs aligned with the organizational safety management system.
  1. Implements ISO 14001 (where applicable) environmental management system.
  2. Coordinates and implements the application and training of safety rules, policies, and initiatives that help to create a safe workplace.
  3. Maintains OSHA logs, EHS records, and reporting for internal and external use.
  4. Assists with plant-level environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives (hazardous waste, air emissions, water, obtaining and maintaining permits, etc.) directly and in coordination with external consultants.
  5. Assists with site activities with regulatory agencies to verify compliance, resolve situations, and maintain a cooperative working relationship.
  6. Escalates/reports potential violations and implements corrections as needed.
  7. Conducts frequent safety and environmental audits and takes immediate corrective action if required.
  8. Recommends and implements EHS related capital projects for supported facilities.
  9. Investigates workplace safety and environmental incidents through root cause analysis and partners with the Operations team to implement corrective actions to correct problems and prevent future occurrences.
  10. Manages workers' compensation for supported facilities.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned, which may include leading projects of varying scale or scope.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or related science disciplines, or combination of equivalent education and experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Three years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
