Safety Representative (Night Shift) (R/O)

Job Title:Safety Representative

Location:Pascagoula, MS

Position Overview: TheSafety Representativeinspects machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices.
• Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety goggles, steel toe boots, etc.) ensuring workers are in compliance to all safety rules and procedures.
• Inspects specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.
• Assists with the investigations of incidents to determine a cause and suggest prevention methods.
• Conducts safety orientation for new hires with respect to safety rules and procedures.
• Assists with safety meeting and trainings.
• Maintains training records.
• Becomes familiar with the Company's safety program.
• Serves and performs duties of the facility environmental representative.

Experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years working experience in safety compliance in ship building and repair facilities.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must have the basic knowledge of all Safety aspects which include inspection, maintenance, and monitoring facility's machinery, equipment and other conditions to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Must be highly motivated, have a working knowledge of OSHA/Safety regulations, and must be capable of monitoring/controlling those regulations on-site.
• Good communication skills including written and oral communications.
• Basic knowledge of safety techniques and first aid.
• Obtains a Confined Space Certification.
• EMT, First Responder and First Aid Training are a plus.
