Job Description
Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to set up and machine composite aerospace components to a specific schedule using a CNC machine. Validate dimensional attributes by using hand measuring devices such as caliper, micrometer, height gage etc. Visually inspect components for defects and use a computer to complete SAP transaction and document data for SPC purposes.

- Understand CNC machines, and operations.
- Understand operations and setup.
- With supervision, perform uses of all precision measuring devices used in machining operations.
- With supervision, be able to troubleshoot and detect discrepancies in machining operations.
- Demonstrate good communication skills with Supervisors, Engineering and Program Managers for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
- Maintain at all times the Highest Levels of Accuracy and Quality in all machining operations.

Experience/Education/Skills
Qualifications/Characteristics
- Intermediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales.
- Intermediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions.
- Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures, and inserts.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division for the purpose calculating material fabrication.
- Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines.
- Responsible for loading parts, operating controls, and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
- Interprets drawings or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
- Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- High School or GED Equivalent Required
- Minimum of 2 years or trade school equivalent experience
Working Conditions
Indoor production environment, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, overtime dependent on business need.
Physical requirements
Frequently positions sheets of material onto molds and/or manually sands parts, etc...
Frequent repetitive hand movements, use of hand tools - pliers, sanders, scissors, etc...
Frequently remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
Must be able to detect and recognize visual differences between materials or parts, etc...
Frequently moves molds and parts >25 lbs between work tables and carts
