Position Description

Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions

Student Advising & Planning: Provide personalized academic advising to adult learners and non-traditional students in the $10K Degree Completion Program. Collaborate with students to create a clear degree plan that incorporates prior learning, transfer credits, and the specific academic offerings within the School of Professional Studies.

Program & Transfer Credit Evaluation: Serve as the primary point of contact for evaluating prior learning and transfer coursework. Work with faculty and staff to ensure a fair, consistent, and timely evaluation process for all students. Accurately maintain and update student records in compliance with university policies, catalog requirements, and administrative regulations.

Class Day Engagement: Be present on site for Class Day sessions, held two Saturdays per month, to provide in-person academic support, guidance, and advice to students as needed.

Student Support: Offer academic support to all students, helping them navigate university resources and online learning platforms.

Professional Development: Stay informed about current best practices in academic advising, with a focus on adult education, online learning, and innovative academic initiatives that serve the unique needs of a degree completion program.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, plus one to three years relevant experience
