Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and in close collaboration with the SVP, Development and the Senior Director, Special Events, the Senior Director, Individual Giving and Membership, is responsible for raising close to $1,000,000 annually through direct mail, digital giving and other marketing materials by sustaining and upgrading current donors, prospecting for new donors and converting donors to members where appropriate. To this end, introducing and refining a new membership model while ensuring effective benefits fulfillment.



Job Responsibilities Include

Individual Giving:

Manage the Director of Operations and their support staff to oversee all activities supporting donors at all levels including gift processing and reporting, ticketing, membership benefit fulfillment, donor acknowledgments, invoicing and reporting.

Manage the effective rollout of a new benefit program and a more streamlined approach to donor support.

Direct Mail, Digital Giving and Membership:

With the goal of raising close to $1MM in annual revenue, supervise the Manager, Membership and Digital Giving in the implementation of the program through tasks including:

    Set strategy and plans for the Mid- and Lower-Level donor program, leveraging membership benefits.
  • Develop acquisition, upgrade and retention strategies to build a sustainable base of loyal 92NY members.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Special Events and their team, to oversee strategic cultivation events throughout the year.
  • Lead the operations team; guide and mentor staff members to create efficient and effective donor communications plan.
  • Provide insight into overall department communication plans including all donor stewardship messaging regarding benefits.
  • Ensure collaboration between the Membership team and the Development Officers in solicitation strategies for campaigns and program specific efforts such as swim team, Tisch Music and the Himan Brown Senior program, as well as one-off efforts to raise funds for new initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely with the marketing team to ensure aligned messaging, strategy, and timing. Leverage marketing material to increase donation and membership acquisition opportunities. Stay attuned to organizational marketing efforts.
  • Identify ways for improving the donor to member pipeline through welcome email strategies and other upgrade opportunities such as post-event solicitations and the annual membership drives. Maintain Friends of 92NY Membership Benefits.
  • Responsible for ensuring fulfillment of benefits for donors below the $10,000 level; oversee the Director of Operations to confirm that donors and members at all levels are properly credited across the website, email, digital donor screens and print materials.

Research:

Manage the Director of Research in identifying and qualifying current 92NY patrons to strategically:

  • Engage, convert to donor/member, upgrade and sustain ongoing support to 92NY.
  • Manage research needs for cultivation events, including entering requests, liaising with gift officers and research team to ensure that event research is timely and appropriate.


Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a cultural and/or NYC institution.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills, with the ability to take on different points of view and subject matter.
  • A proven, successful track record of achieving fundraising goals.
  • Strong project management experience, with the ability to manage busy schedules with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems, and make decisions.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills within staff culture and with vendors, donors, and various stakeholders.
  • Willingness and desire to attend evening/weekend programming activities in order to cultivate/steward key donors and prospects.
  • Demonstrate a collegial disposition to achieve required results with the ability to work positively in a flexible team environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Knowledge about best practices in using AI desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Tessitura and Mail2 is highly desirable.

40 hours/week.

Compensation Range

$100,000 - $120,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
