Radiology Assistant Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Manages radiology services and coordinates education of personnel. Promotes retention of staff through recognition and promotion of teamwork. Promotes and encourages professional development of staff. Ensures optimal patient care standards through daily interaction and role modeling. Supports and facilitates a respectful and collaborative relationships between medical staff, hospital staff, and radiology staff.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Directs and advises departmental personnel in quality control and safety procedures; facilitates the scheduling of staff to ensure coverage for all required areas; supervises and evaluates the work of assigned personnel.

3. *Interacts with staff and sustains collaborative relationships with other departments.

4. *Assists the Radiology Manager with the selection and hiring of qualified candidates for workgroups.

5. *Facilitates and provides orientation activities and education for departmental new hires.

6. *Performs required/requested data reports and QI monitors as assigned.

7. *Performs direct observations of staff and completes annual performance evaluations on time.

8. *Maintains documentation of initial orientation, annual competencies and annual training of staff; ensures mandatory training is completed as scheduled.

9. *Participates in annual review of policy and procedures; enforces established performance standards, ensuring proficiency and competency; implements, monitors and enforces safety policies and procedures.

10. *Routinely assists the Radiology Manager in concurrent and retrospective resolution of patient, family, and/or physician concerns or complaints.

11. *Routinely assists the Radiology Manager in completion and/or resolution of incidents and/or feedback B-Safe files.

12. *Timely, objectively, and constructively coaches staff as needed when practice and/or safety issues are observed or reported; documents as appropriate.

13. *Routinely assists Radiology Manager in coaching and training staff as directed to achieve excellent patient experience.

14. *Works collaboratively with the Radiology Manager to ensure that meaningful leader/employee rounding is completed according to span of control expectations.

15. *Assists with coordination of construction/remodeling projects in collaboration with facilities, staff, physicians, vendors and contractors.

16. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

17. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

18. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.

2. Knowledge of radiology equipment and procedures.

3. Knowledge of quality improvement tools and processes.

4. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

5. Ability to schedule, direct, counsel and evaluate employee work and performance.

6. Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in accordance with facility protocols and regulatory agency requirements.

7. Ability to read, interpret and enforce departmental safety rules, equipment operating and maintenance requirements and policies and procedures.

8. Ability to develop written policies and procedures, memoranda and performance evaluations with measurable behaviors.

9. Ability to balance and prioritize diverse management and clinical responsibilities.

10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteers and departments including diverse patient populations.

11. Ability to practice proper body mechanics to ensure personal and customer/patient safety.

12. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

13. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.

14. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.

15. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

16. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree with current certification in a related technical field is required. Bachelor of Science degree is preferred. Current certification/license in one or more imaging disciplines such as Radiology Technology (ARRT), MRI, Ultrasound/Sonography, Nuclear Medicine, or another recognized imaging specialty is required. Minimum two (2) years' experience in medical imaging is required.

In lieu of imaging certification/license and medical imaging experience, a current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska, or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act, with certification in Radiology nursing specialty with at least two (2) years in that capacity will be accepted. Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations.

Previous managerial or supervisory experience is preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
