What to Expect
The TPT Engineering team is responsible for the design, documentation, integration, and training of custom service tooling hardware and procedures to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Telsa's energy storage solutions. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing this evolving energy industry forward by being the in-house battery and high voltage expert influencing procedure development, tool/product design, and training new field serviceman.
The ideal candidate has a good mix of electrical and process engineering skills and possesses a strong set of hands-on skills.This is an opportunity to become a key part of a fast-growing world-class organization, supporting the latest commercial energy technologies.
What You'll Do
- Prioritize week to week response around new and ongoing battery scenarios across the globe; Scenarios can include isoloss, arc flash, etc.
Own roadmap for the "Battery Emergency and Thermal Response" team Own program of 3rd party service providers and driving definition of what they can and won't do via contract Drive cross functional teams to develop "standardized" strategies around Tesla response to unique emergency scenarios Be a lead curriculum and content driver for training programs of new field serviceman to understand risks and mitigations around battery technologies at Tesla Ensure new tool design and process is in coordination with EHS, local regulation and battery abuse teams to develop standards Drive decision trees that define what to do with our battery after fault modes over time in agreement with HAZMAT, legal, FA, ABUSE, and Environmental health/safety ordinances
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years experience program managing a team in an undefined technical environment with fault risks
5+ years experience around an electronic/mechanical system troubleshooting and RCA environment 5+ years experience with BESS, Battery Energy Storage systems 5+ years experience in implementing preventative technical measures through engineering fundamentals 2+ years experience leading and designing training curriculum and class sessions 2+ years experience collaborating with HAZMAT, LEGAL and EHS teams Ability to be in field up to 50% of the time and on product Has emergency and safety critical event managementskills Specific experience troubleshooting power electronics faults (such as HVDC inverters) Experience around NEC

Expected Compensation
$88,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
