Snowflake started with a clear vision: make modern data warehousing effective, affordable, and accessible to all data users. In this role, you'll create and deliver documentation that improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the Snowflake developers who make that vision a reality every day.

Working in Snowflake's fast-paced, technically demanding cloud-development environment, you'll help developers' innovate quickly. You'll provide them with the documentation necessary to apply cutting-edge tools, processes, and AI, while ensuring that they adhere to the highest standards of code quality and engineering practices.

Moreover, as a member of the Snowflake Technical Documentation team, you'll benefit from working alongside the community of writers who create documentation for customers of Snowflake's industry-leading Data Cloud. You'll be part of an organization that understands the unique challenges and best practices for producing modern technical documentation and that strives to be the best in the discipline.

• Design, develop, and publish documentation for technical audiences that improves the effectiveness, productivity, and velocity of Snowflake users (SQL engineers, application developers, business analysts, etc).

• Partner directly with developers, engineering managers, and product managers to anticipate the information needs at all phases of the software development lifecycle.

• Plan and implement the most effective information production and delivery mechanisms to fulfill those needs.

• Work with release engineers and dev ops to deliver regular documentation updates.

• Work with support engineers and customer success managers to help drive customer engagement and adoption.

• 10+ years creating technical product documentation from scratch, as well as from specifications, product requirements, and similar documents.

• Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and associated workflows for repository and source-code management in a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) environment.

• Experience using integrated development environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio Code, Cursor, PyCharm, and IntelliJ.

• Familiarity with platforms and authoring and publishing tools for a "Docs-as-Code" approach (for example, Sphinx, Markdown, RST, XML).

• Familiarity with SQL and RDBMS (for example, Oracle, Teradata, Redshift, SQL Server).

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

• Familiarity with access control concepts and practical applications.

• In-depth knowledge of the content development lifecycle, including the following skills:

  • Identifying and understanding the information needs of the audience.

  • Gathering information, interviewing SMEs, and conducting research.

  • Authoring, publishing, and managing online and web content.

• Familiarity with and experience using AI in information development.

• Familiarity with the following technologies:

  • ETL/ELT and BI.

  • Programming languages and APIs (Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#/.NET).

  • Big Data analytics, machine learning, and statistics (Spark, Scala, R).

  • Database drivers and connectors (JDBC, ODBC).

  • CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code technologies (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Lambda).

• Familiarity with identity and access management and security concepts, such as SSO, OAuth, and MFA, are helpful but not required.

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

• The estimated base salary range for this role is $123,000 - $181,700.
• Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
