Public Health Referral Manager

UCSF in partnership with the California Department of Public Health's Tuberculosis Control Branch and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recruiting for a project specialist to provide operational and analytic support to CureTB. CureTB is a CDC-funded program that collaborates with CDC DGMH operations, local and state health departments, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to prevent and reduce tuberculosis transmission among global mobile populations. CureTB also collaborates with ministries of health internationally to establish a continuation of TB treatment among international travelers diagnosed with TB.
The CureTB program works to prevent the spread of tuberculosis (TB) among people who cross international borders to reduce disease transmission and the emergence of drug-resistant TB. CureTB connects people with TB to healthcare services as they move between the United States and other countries and collaborates with health authorities throughout the United States and around
the world to link people with TB to care at their destinations.
The Public Health Referral Manager will work closely with the CDC Division of Global Migration and Health's Southern Border Health and Migration Branch with communication and strategy development and implementation. This role will include, but not limited to, developing and implementing communication and linkage activities and assisting with conducting evaluation and quality improvement activities. The project specialist will also assist with the evaluation of communication materials and operational procedures and use results for improving program outcomes.
The Public Health Referral Manager will be a part of an interdisciplinary team coordinating transnational illness referrals and communicate with domestic and international public health partners. Under the direction of their supervisor, they will take an active part in documenting, interviewing, and discussing requirements as needed with appropriate public health jurisdictions. The project specialist will work project evaluation, documentation, and recommendations for improvement in coordination with their supervisor and team.
This position contract ends September 30, 2026. Contract extension is contingent on sustained funding. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $59,800/year (Annual Rate). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
- Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
- Demonstrates ability to research and synthesize data with strong attention to detail
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Exceptional organizational and coordination skills, including the ability to manage and respond to multiple requests and priorities in a timely manner
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills responding to requests and inquiries timely and effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a public health or government agency or clinical setting
- Interest in Public Health
- Spanish language fluency
