Organizational Unit Overview
The Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Academic Success and Registrar provides oversight of the Offices of Financial Aid, University Registrar, Academic Advising and Support Center, Pirate Academic Success Center, Athletic Student Academic Services, and University Scholarships. These offices help achieve the long-range goals and student success objectives of the University, implementing retention programs that will provide our students with a quality academic experience, working closely with Academic and Student Affairs, Institutional Planning, Research and Assessment, Academic Deans and Directors, Distance Education, international and graduate student recruitment and retention.
The primary purpose of the Office of University Scholarships is to support, award, and oversee all scholarship opportunities on East Carolina University's campus, in accordance with the University Scholarships SOP, to assist the University in meeting our recruitment, retention and graduation goals, and to support the University Advancement division by identifying student scholars to meet with current and potential donors by request.
Job Duties
The Associate Director, Office of University Scholarships, is critical to the success of ECU recruitment, retention and graduation goals of ECU. This position will assist the Director of OUS with oversight and administration of all university scholarships.

Aid in the merit and need-based University Scholarships administration (excluding athletic aid) 60%
- Assist Director with oversight and administration of all university scholarships, aid in the formulation and implementation of a vision for recruiting and awarding scholarships and ensuring alignment with the University's strategic plan
- Create a centralized and coordinated presence for campus and college-based scholarships to increase awareness of scholarship opportunities
- Act as a liaison between academic colleges, Student Affairs departments, ECU Foundation (particularly donor relations), the Office of Admissions, the Office of Student Financial Aid, and the ECU Honors College
- Facilitate trainings to ensure understanding and compliance with ECU scholarship SOP
- Assist in tracking of scholarships and analyzing scholarship data
- Outreach and marketing efforts to promote the scholarship process on and off campus
- Supervision of undergraduate or graduate student workers

Support University Scholarships efforts for new student recruitment 25%
- Collaborate with the Office of Admissions to recruit students to East Carolina University. Aid in creation of communications program for scholarship recruitment
- Represent ECU at recruitment events both in and out of state with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
- Assist with the packaging of merit and need-based scholarship recipients to recruit competitive, high-achieving students to East Carolina University. Assisting in all communication, records, contracts, etc. for each scholarship awarded
- Learn and be a resource for questions for the electronic scholarship application process for all students
- Aid Director in awarding all university scholarships for new students (endowed and university subsidized, excluding athletic scholarships and all federal and state aid)
- Travel to recognize four-year scholarship recipients in coordination with the Honors College and College of Education
- Assist with all Access Scholar programming and attend events associated with the program
- Serve on the selection committee for the Access Scholars

Coordination of the Chancellor's Scholar Program 15%
- Coordination of the Chancellor's Scholar program
- Serve on the selection committee for the Chancellor's Scholars
- Work closely with the Director to develop annual programming and communication with scholars and donors
- Assist in monitoring of academic progress for scholars
- Develop and teach a COAD class for the Chancellor's Scholars in the fall semester
- Collaborate with Campus Living for administration of the Chancellor's Scholar LLC

This position is contingent upon available funding.
Minimum Education/Experience
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Communication, Business or a related field, OR a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience (admissions, scholarships, financial aid, or scholarship programs).
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication also required.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

- Proficiency with Banner
- Budgetary/fiscal management experience
- Ability to build collaborative relationships, strong public relation skills, and supervisory skills
- Demonstrated advanced computer competency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Outstanding communication and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and a creative mindset when attaching projects
