Job Description
ECU Brody School of Medicine is currently seeking M3 & M4 medical students or Brody graduate students to work as Instructional Assistants for the Step Testing Enrichment Program (S.T.E.P.). The program will run from February - March 2026, however planning for thematic sessions will begin in October 2025.
Instructional Assistants will provide content review and study support to M2 students preparing for USMLE Step 1. S.T.E.P. Instructional Assistants will facilitate foundational science content review sessions and provide peer advising to M2 students related to general USMLE Step 1 concerns. S.T.E.P.
Instructional Assistants work under the supervision of the Office of Medical Education and must be able to give five hours of time each week to working with the S.T.E.P. program from October 2025 - March 2026. October - January will have a smaller time commitment due to those months being dedicated for session planning with faculty. February 2026 - March 2026 will have a slightly larger time commitment.
S.T.E.P. Instructional Assistants must also be willing to provide small group content review for M2 students in at least one of the following areas: General Principles, Cardiopulmonary, Renal Acid/Base & Multisystem, Psychiatry/Neurology, Microbiology & Immunology, Dermatology & Musculoskeletal/Skin, and Biostatistics/Ethics/Humanities. Instructional Assistants are also expected to provide brief reports about their weekly work.

This position will collaborate with assigned faculty to create and present content for joint sessions during the dedicated period. Instructional Assistants will need to be available for in-person sessions in February and March.
