MAINTENANCE ENGINEER - 3rd SHIFT (10:30p-6:30a) LEAR COLUMBIA CITY PLANT It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Engineer to organize, plan, and direct work activities of maintenance employees. The Maintenance Engineer is part of the Engineering Department and reports to the Engineering Manager. The Role:
- Instruct and coordinate the activities of all personnel in the department to maintain top efficiency and productivity.
- Contact and coordinate work with outside contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations.
- Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving work problems.
- Assist in troubleshooting PLC related issues.
- Responsible for setting up and maintaining adequate parts and supplies to minimize production downtime.
- Ensure plant security is maintained.
- Assist in launch programs, as necessary.
- Recommend measures to improve efficiency as it relates to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Confer with other Engineers to coordinate activities.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformances related to product, process, and quality systems.
- Identify and record any problems related to the product, process, and quality system.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Verify implementation of solutions.
- Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- Directly supervise hourly maintenance technician employees.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Assure adherence to the collective bargaining agreement.
Your Qualifications:
- Associate Degree, two years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
- 5-years of leadership experience, (preferably in a maintenance department).
- Experience with PLC's (Control Logix, Micro Logix, Compact Logix & SLC 500 - Rockwell software) - being able to understand ladder logic and make programming changes.
- Experience with automation equipment (i.e., industrial robots, AGV, vision systems).
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Basic Computer skills.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
