WGL - Facilities Engineer Join a talented team focused on best-in-class performance! The Facilities Engineer will help propel the Facilities Team to the next level through improved contractor oversite, performance visibility, and project tracking. The Facilities Engineer is focused primarily on planning, oversite, and execution of small to medium sized facilities projects, development and tracking of metrics and contractor KPIs, maturing and streamlining of processes utilizing technology, compliance reporting and collaborating with Facilities Team colleagues to support emerging company priorities. You Will: * Planning and oversite of small to medium scale capital and O&M projects, partnering with both internal and contract resources. * Collaborate with other departments and affected stakeholders to gather requirements and provide project updates. * Responsible for daily work activities associated with the design, construction, maintenance, and safe operation of Washington Gas's buildings and support systems. * Responsible for problem solving and solutioning emerging requests in the areas of safety improvements, post incident improvements, and end user feedback. * Monitor KPI's and performance metrics, for both contractors and Facilities Team members. Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend solutions. * Monitors contractors to ensure proper safety behaviors, project performance and quality controls. * Oversee work completed by direct contractors to ensure performance in line with contract SOW/SLAs. * Creates and maintains compliance log to ensure critical inspections/reporting occurs at required intervals. Documents all regulatory required inspections and testing, including corrective actions, to address regulatory non-compliance in the areas of environmental, safety, stormwater, backflow preventers, gym equipment, cafe, fire extinguishers life safety, fire, code compliance, etc. * Maintain database of critical dates for major preventative maintenance activities, and asset lifecycle. * Assist with and mature the facility audit process. Track, execute solutions, and automate reporting on audit deficiencies. * Participates in the coordination, development and acquisition of construction documents, estimates, bids, permits, license, fees, etc., on capital and O&M construction, renovation, and repair/replacement projects * Maintain and operate numerous software systems within the department to include building controls, building automation, and work order systems. Maximize use of functionality and performance visibility * Participates in capital project planning and the preparation, development, and execution of long-range plans to preserve critical assets, optimize operations, and address future facilities' needs. * Oversee day to day maintenance activities You Have: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with 1+ years' experience in facility operations, or, 3 years experience in facility operations, construction, project management or related fields, required. * Working knowledge of building systems, building controls/automation, construction, and/or facilities management, preferred. * Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, suppliers, and peers. * Ability to use computer software and applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite. * Strong technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to leverage technology to improve performance visibility and streamline processes. Experience creating dashboards, reports and automating processes, a plus. * Demonstrate ability to organize and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously while maintaining the integrity of all. * Excellent communication and customer service skills required * This position is based in Springfield, VA, but must have the ability to travel to other sites around DC, Maryland, and Virginia, regularly. This position allows for remote work up to 1 day per week. * Ability to assist in emergency response and oversee occasional work during weekends and outside of normal business hours, as needed We offer a competitive salary range of $78,000 to $113,250 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
