Job Description Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring effective transportation solutions for product within and between facilities, up to and including: movements between the appropriate facilities, appropriate maintenance of transportation equipment such as the tractor, pneumatic tanker trailer, and dry van trailers, ensuring warehouse product storage and shipping areas, including outside shipping and storage lot(s) are kept organized and maintained, the supervision in Grand Rapids of the Mat. Handler-Warehouse position, the verification and keeping of records for incoming and outgoing shipments, and assisting Operations Support and Shipping/ Receiving in any counting and shipping and receiving activities. This position will also act in a backup capacity to physically effect the movement of product with appropriate equipment from one location to another. Essential Functions:
- Ensure and perform as necessary the preventative maintenance on all transportation equipment, pre-trip inspections, and any applicable legally required reporting including DOT Equipment Inspections are kept current.
- Operate equipment to load, unload, and disperse material.
- Ensure all ERP shipping and receiving related transactions are completed in an accurate and timely manner in the ERP system, including but not limited to the below listed items.
- Review production schedules, sales orders, and material shipping dates, type, volume, and destinations for the Grand Rapids Facility. Ensure that product orders are pulled, staged, and ready for shipment. Process paperwork including Order Specifications to sales, shipping labels, bills of lading, and packing slips.
- Assist in obtaining freight quotes. Schedule shipping carriers for pick up and monitor dock traffic.
- Check assigned freight invoices for accuracy and approve for payment.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Oversee and ensure accuracy of receipts for all incoming product including transfers, purchase order items and non-purchase order items. Compare identifying information and counts, weights, or measurements on incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, or other records.
- Ensure proper distribution and storage locations of all incoming items is correct.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of necessary cycle count protocols. Oversee and perform Cycle Count activities in the Grand Rapids facility. Be available to aid in cycle counting in other Northern Operations Facilities.
- Supervise unpacking and examination of incoming shipments, report damaged items and shortages, and correspond as necessary with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Over see process for Printing and appropriate distribution of Shipping paperwork for outgoing loads in the Grand Rapids location. Assist as necessary to ensure outgoing loads are correctly loaded and Driver sign offs are filled out.
- Be available to assist in all Northern operations facilities with appropriate input from Operations Manager, Shipping Supervisor, and Operations Support Supervisor to implement layout, inventory and product identification improvements, changes, and protocols.
- Supervise and direct the Mat. Handler-Warehouse and truck driver positions in Grand Rapids to ensure organization and product rotation is maintained at highest possible level and per any published procedures.
- Provide leadership, supervision and development opportunities to direct reports.

- Backup Capacity - transport material from rail cars on siding to storage silos at the plant via a pneumatic tanker trailer.
- Backup Capacity- transport material between the appropriate facilities via dry vans with a tractor-trailer combination or the box truck.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- One or more years of related driving experience.
- Current DOT (Department of Transportation) Physical Card, Class A Commercial Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Previous Supervisor experience or demonstrated supervisory capability.
- Obtain and maintain a forklift certification through an MDI training program.
- Ability to operate basic computer equipment and peripherals as well as company standard software.
- Able to effectively perform all basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.)
- Ability to effectively read, interpret and communicate industry and customer specific documentation.
- Problem analysis and resolution skills.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
- Satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check.
- Verified eligibility for employment in the United States.
Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday. May be required to work during non-traditional hours (weekends and evenings). Schedule modification may be implemented by Supervisor.
- Occasionally works in a typical factory environment (high noise levels, machinery, conveyors, dust, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations.)
- Works in a typical Office Setting which includes continuously sitting, use of computer monitor, mouse, keyboard, standard phone.
- Specific vision abilities required.
- Occasionally works outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Occasionally sit, drive, hear, work in typical semi-tractor cab environment.
- Occasionally walk, stoop, crouch and maximum lift of 50 lbs.
