PURPOSE:

FormFactor's RF Products group partners extensively with the world's foremost semiconductor manufacturers to solve their most complex test and validation challenges. Our technologies are key to the wireless and high-speed communication markets, enabling production of 5G and mmWave modems, ultra-high speed I/O, silicon photonics, and a wide range of other high-frequency technologies-from DC to terahertz.

We are seeking an experienced and technically hands-on Senior RF Engineering manager to lead our RF simulation and measurement team. This is a working manager role, ideal for a candidate who thrives in both leadership and technical execution. You will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers while actively contributing to the design, simulation, and optimization of RF components and systems. Your leadership will shape RF product strategy, drive innovation, and ensure delivery of high-performance RF solutions across multiple programs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership:


  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of RF engineers focused on simulation and measurement.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and career development support.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, applications, and layout engineering teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in simulation and measurement capabilities through tool upgrades, process automation, and training.
  • Contribute to technology and product roadmaps, aligning team efforts to with strategic goals.


Technical Execution:


  • Design RF structures and systems using simulation-driven methodologies, using advanced SI/PI simulation tools.
  • Develop and validate simulation models, optimize designs, and correlate results with physical measurements.
  • Conduct hands-on lab measurements using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, time-domain reflectometers, and other RF test equipment.
  • Analyze discrepancies between simulation and measurement results, lead root-cause investigations, implement design refinements.
  • Contribute to development of next generation RF calibration methodologies.
  • Automate simulation and measurement workflows to improve efficiency and repeatability.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in RF design and EM simulation, with 3+ years in a management or technical leadership role.
  • Strong proficiency in EM simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, AWR) and RF measurement techniques (VNA, TDR).
  • Demonstrated success in leading technical teams and delivering complex engineering programs.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and external simulation resources.
  • Background in PCB design and manufacturing constraints desired.
  • Familiarity with on-wafer RF calibration techniques (SOL, SOLR, SOLT, multiline TRL) is a plus
  • Knowledge of wireless standards (e.g., 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) or radar systems is preferred.



The pay range for this role in Beaverton, OR is between $138,900 and $182,280 . The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
