Washington County, located in West Bend, Wisconsin currently has a great opportunity in the Natural Resources Department to work in the Washington County Park System as a Park Maintenance Worker I FT. The Park System maintains and operates (3) wedding venues, (3) rental houses, (9) camping cabins, (8) picnic shelters, and (6) restroom facilities.
Under the direction of the Parks Foreman, will perform equipment maintenance and repair, park maintenance, including grounds maintenance and construction, and other related duties as assigned.0
Qualified candidates must possess:
*High school diploma or GED.
*Minimum age of 18.
*Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
*Three years recent full time paid experience in repairing equipment or experience in tree and lawn care or experience in maintaining buildings or light construction work OR education in a related field from an accredited college, or technical school may be substituted for up to two years of the paid experience requirement.
*Individual commercial pesticide applicator license preferred (3.0-Turf & Landscape or 6.0-Right-of-Way & Natural Areas).
*Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and odd hours as needed.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Parks Foreman, will perform equipment maintenance and repair, park maintenance, including grounds maintenance and construction, and other related duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
*Makes equipment and building repairs as required.
*Maintains park buildings and grounds.
*Operates various types of park maintenance equipment.
*Works on park buildings and construction projects.
*Cleans venues and restrooms
*Assists in providing information about park facilities to general public.
*Assists in supervising seasonal employees.
*Snow and ice removal on County properties and Parks.
*Assists in enforcing rules of conduct in parks.
*Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.
Work Direction Received:
This position is directed by the Parks Foreman.
Supervision Exercised:
May oversee the work of seasonal employees as directed by the Parks Foreman.
Decision Making:
Decisions concerning scheduled maintenance is requested by supervisor, other daily activities are made independently.
Interaction:
Primary interaction with the general public and within the department.
Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
Requires working knowledge of park maintenance, snow removal, equipment repair and operation, including lawn and tree care, and building repair and general maintenance. Working knowledge of park construction, landscaping procedures and plant care. Ability to interact effectively with the general public. Able to fulfill physical demands of job, sensory demands (seeing and hearing), and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization).
Training and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Three years recent full time paid experience in repairing equipment or experience in tree and lawn care or experience in maintaining buildings or light construction work OR education in a related field from an accredited college, or technical school may be substituted for up to two years of the paid experience requirement. Must be able to operate a chain saw and other power tools at various heights, operate truck and trailer, operate equipment, and lift and carry a range of weight up to 100 lbs, individual commercial pesticide applicator license preferred (3.0-Turf & Landscape or 6.0-Right-of-Way & Natural Areas). Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and odd hours as needed. April through October will consist of scheduled weekend shifts. Winter months will require working during overnight hours and weekends depending on weather. Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license. Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
