Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant
Washington County, located in West Bend, Wisconsin has an excellent opportunity for a full- time Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant in the Behavioral Health Division on the Outpatient Behavioral Health Team. Under the general direction of the Outpatient Services Supervisor, this position participates as a full member of patients' care team.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
*Completes client screens in the electronic medical record

*Obtain and/or update registration information and referrals or authorization as necessary.

*Acts as a liaison between the patient and clinic staff.

*Administers appropriate medications and injections, as necessary.

*Collects urine and oral fluid samples for testing; documenting rapid results, and collaborating with the laboratory for definitive testing

*Obtains and communicates lab results and additional health information from various sources to medical staff.

*Contacts insurance companies to obtain prior authorization forms.

*Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.

Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to maintain a calm attitude and to interact tactfully and effectively with patients. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Requires compassion, empathy, and an understanding of patient care and mental health and substance use population needs. Ability to function effectively as a team member. Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Able to fulfill physical demands of job, sensory demands (seeing and hearing), and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization).

Training and Experience:
High School Graduate. Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred. Strongly prefer experience with Mental Health and Substance Use. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive professional relationships with a variety of patients, staff and physicians.
