Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to provide marketing and business development leadership for assigned practice groups. This position serves as a trusted advisor to practice group leaders, driving a culture of business development through the creation and execution of plans that enhance revenue growth, strengthen our brand, and expand client relationships.

The BDM plays a key role in aligning practice group initiatives with the firm's strategic plan, collaborating across departments, and fostering cross-practice opportunities. This role may include supervising a Marketing and Business Development Specialist and offers the opportunity to lead high-impact initiatives and programs across the firm.

Key Responsibilities Include:
* Partner with practice group leaders to develop and execute annual marketing and business development (MBD) plans and manage related budgets.
* Drive implementation of MBD initiatives, tracking progress and adjusting tactics to achieve annual and long-term goals.
* Lead responses to proposals and pitches, including strategy, team coordination, research, and final submissions.
* Collaborate with attorneys on individual business development plans.
* Plan and execute events and sponsorships in coordination with the Events & Sponsorship team.
* Oversee onboarding and integration of lateral attorneys into the practice group's MBD function and culture.
* Partner with communications, digital, and graphics teams to create and maintain compelling collateral, web content, and PR strategies.
* Identify and pursue new business leads, client expansion opportunities, and cross-serving initiatives.
* Lead long-term functional initiatives such as attorney coaching programs, professional development curricula, and client team initiatives.
* Supervise assigned marketing and business development staff.

Qualifications:
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
* 5+ years of marketing or business development experience in a professional services environment, including strategic planning and execution.
* Budget development and management experience.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CoPilot or other generative AI tools, CRM systems, and proposal generation tools.
* Regular in-office presence with hybrid flexibility.

Preferred:
* 7+ years of progressively responsible business development experience.
* Advanced degree (JD, MBA, or MA Communication).
* Knowledge of the legal industry.
* Project management experience and ability to prioritize complex workflows.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and influence management skills.
* Executive presence, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
* People management experience.
* Willingness to travel up to once per quarter.

The salary range for this position varies by geographical market. In Minneapolis, the estimated starting annual pay range is $125,000-145,000 year. The compensation offered will be dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, education, professional background, overall qualifications, and geographic market location.
