Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Representatives are responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims. This includes analyzing coverage, contacting the customers, investigating the facts surrounding the loss, arranging inspection, experts, and third parties; collecting information and evaluating complexity of loss of claims when needed; negotiating loss settlements either directly with our customers or through their assigned counsel and finalizing settlement. Representatives are required to understand and comply with Insurance Regulations, Statutes, and case law accordingly. The Representatives work closely with other departments, vendors and defense counsel as needed throughout the claim process. Depending on the level of complexity, claim values can range from a nominal amount to millions of dollars.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Handles "one and done" claims as related to property and casualty claims, which could include simple losses, excluding complex coverage issues.

Handles claims and intake with a focus on entry level complexity.

Confirms coverage and the facts of loss through their investigation.

Handles claims with a focus on one major line of business and entry level complexity.

Demonstrates authority limit up to $36,500 on a per claim basis for Individual products and $15,000 for Credit products.

Works with multiple systems such as primary Claims system, estimating systems, tracking systems, workflow systems, etc.

Determines the appropriate method of inspection and/or the appropriate claim decision based upon the review of facts.

Reviews necessary figures or actions toward settling the claim, and then finalizes the settlement.

Enters data into the systems to set liability based upon the review of facts and takes appropriate action based upon the claim decision made.

Ensures compliance with state/federal regulations/ requirements, provisions of the policy contracts and company philosophy.

Focuses primarily on building customer relationships and expediting claims based upon fair claims settlement practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Maintain Continuing Education (CE) requirements for state licensing when appropriate.

Two years of Customer Service or Insurance experience.

Maintain Continuing Education (CE) requirements for state licensing when appropriate. Company will pay for the appropriate license as required.
