POSITION SUMMARY:

Snowcat guides are responsible for the safe guiding of Winter Park Guide's guests and must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the Winter Park Ski area and surrounding valley. Guides must be available to work a varied on-call schedule including evenings and early mornings. We are looking for passionate, knowledgeable guides to help our guests Venture Out on our daily and evening snowcat tours.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resort's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resort's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $22

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Provide fun, informative, guest centric tours.
  • Performs daily preventive maintenance on snowcats.
  • Attend all training necessary to safely and efficiently operate a tour snow cat during and after resort hours.
  • Hooks up attachments and fuels vehicles.
  • Conducts tours on schedule, using basic scripts as a guideline.
  • Assists in tour sales areas, helping guests and verifying waivers.
  • Responsible for the overall experience of Winter Park Guides guests, including on time meet up, friendly and knowledgeable service and creating a fun atmosphere
  • Follow all policies and procedures that are specific to the Activities Division, as well as Winter Park Resort policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and company policies with respect to workplace safety and work to achieve a zero-incident safety record.
  • Understand the retail and booking process and assist guests within our store locations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of activities within the resort and surrounding community.
  • Help curate adventure experiences for guests.
  • Will adhere to direct and strict compliance with all safety standards

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Some college desired.


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong knowledge of the Fraser Valley and Winter Park Resort
  • Experience in guest services, public relations and public speaking.
  • One year operational and mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment or demonstrated ability.
  • Guest service oriented
  • Honest, and follows established policies and procedures
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Hard working, team player
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to pass a motor vehicle check


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Office Environment:
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time in extreme environmental conditions skiing, riding or hiking.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Mountain Environment:
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
