Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Adjunct positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round for assignments based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years in May. Applicants in this pool will remain active until the pool is refreshed and will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.
The adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for the following: counseling services, and/or teaching assigned classes, under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of an adjunct faculty member.
The assignment may include instructing classes, which could result in a Counselor/Instructional split assignment. Position Salary Information: Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the

Typical Duties
-
The assignment may include, but is not limited to:
- Provide academic, career, personal, multi-cultural, and disability related counseling services to students with disabilities, both individually and in groups.
- Offer crisis intervention and referrals to appropriate support services for students experiencing mental health or other personal challenges.
- Providing individual and group counseling to assist students in making decisions regarding associates of arts/associates of science/associate's degree of transfer, transfer, and career/occupational goals.
- Using current technology to provide counseling services to students attending the college through distance education programs.
- Working with four-year colleges and universities to assist students in a smooth transition to those institutions.
- Conduct intakes to verify students' disability through observation and/or analysis of disability documentation and determine eligibility for disability services.
- Identify students' educational limitations and needs to determine appropriate accommodations, strategies, auxiliary aids, and services.
- Develop and maintain an Academic Accommodations Plan (AAP) for each eligible student to authorize specific services and reasonable accommodations.
- Develop an individualized Integrated Student Educational Plan (ISEP) for each eligible student and monitor students' academic progress.
- Refer and coordinate with campus services and community agencies to ensure students receive appropriate services.
- Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to develop and implement accommodation plans tailored to students' individual needs.
- Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure equal access to educational opportunities and resources.
- Provide training and support to faculty and staff on accommodating students with disabilities and creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Stay informed about laws, regulations, and best practices related to disability services in higher education.
- Using current technology, prepare and maintain accurate records/case notes, relaying pertinent information to college personnel as needed, and respecting the confidentiality of such records as required by law.
- The assignment may include instructing classes, which could result in a Counselor/Instructional split assignment. May teach courses that include college success skills, personal development, career exploration, career decisions-making skills and skills specific to students with disabilities.
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities of an adjunct faculty member.

Minimum Qualifications
-
- Have a master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family, and child counseling, student personnel; OR a bachelor's degree in in one of the listed degrees AND a possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); OR the equivalent*. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by time of hire.
- Have at least 15 semester units in upper division or graduate level course work related to people with disabilities; OR completion of six semester units; OR the equivalent of a graduate level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) program, or in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities; OR two years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following;
(A) Counseling for students with disabilities; or (B) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities are for persons with disabilities.

Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
*NOTES:
Degree titles must match the stated minimum qualifications exactly (word-for-word). Titles with added, missing, or rearranged words will not be accepted. If your degree title does not match the minimum qualifications exactly, you must submit documentation for "equivalency" to be considered for this position (see next bullet). E.g. minimum qualification states Chemistry degree needed, and your degree title states Organic Chemistry. You will need to apply for "equivalency". If you fail to submit this documentation and your degree title does not match, you will be disqualified.
