The Clinical Research Support (CRS) Budget Analyst performs pre and post award clinical trial finance budget activities including developing, analyzing, and monitoring clinical trial budgets and related operations under CRS.



Responsibilities

    Prepare and project manage operating budgets based on actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated grant and/or clinical trial agreement revenue, expense reports and other factors.
  • Identify research costs and develop and negotiate comprehensive multi-year budgets for industry-sponsored, investigator initiated and grant funded trials.
  • Allocate, monitor and track invoices, billing, and expenditure records; review to ensure conformance with budgetary limitations and expectations.
  • Generate and analyze recurring and ad hoc reports as part of reporting, monitoring, forecasting and process improvement activities and report status of all assigned budgets to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide Budget-to-actual financial reporting, expense approvals, and invoice processing while assuring charges are appropriate, allowable, allocable, and paid promptly.
  • Project manage all aspects of the study startup process for clinical trials to include industry-sponsored, investigator initiated and grant funded trials.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage study startup documentation across multiple platforms, including the OnCore CTMS, REDCap system, and email.
  • Review internal billing compliance documents and OnCore study calendars to ensure financial infrastructure is sound and in alignment with protocol requirements and study sponsor funding terms.
  • Partner with study startup team, clinical trial staff, central regulatory operations team, and consortium study teams to communicate start-up process, milestones, and timeline goals.
  • Perform budget closeout activities.
  • Act as budgetary liaison with Center Finance, Accounting, Office of Sponsored Research other Center departments and external parties, preparing required forms and providing reports as necessary.
  • Review and modify departmental financial processes, procedures, and budgetary control systems to assist in monitoring, improving and/or streamlining operations.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve questions or issues related to departmental budgets raised by Center staff or external parties.
  • Perform special projects and other financial and clinical trial budget and startup duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Two years of experience providing fiscal program coordination, preferably in an academic or research environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytic finance skills.
  • Finance experience with Phase I-III clinical trials.
  • Previous experience developing clinical trial budgets; negotiating study budgets and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience performing clinical trial management/administration and/or sponsor invoicing activities utilizing OnCore or another CTMS system.
  • Experience performing or reviewing clinical trial management/administration activities utilizing EPIC or another patient billing and registration system.
  • Advanced skills with MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $112,674, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
