Position Overview:
The Senior Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance at our secondary lead recycling facility. Responsibilities involve engaging a wide range of stakeholders including operations teams and regulators. Must be able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams at all levels. This role will have the ability to act independently with moderate direct supervision. This position reports to the site Environmental Director.

Critical Success Criteria:



  • Develop working knowledge of existing operations and processes to aid compliance with relevant regulatory standards
  • Support capital project teams by providing environmental input and requirements
  • Technical resource for environmental compliance and continuous improvement to the site operations team
  • Support investigations and recommends corrective actions to maintain environmental compliance




Responsibilities:



  • Using our Intelex software system, own the environmental incident reporting and investigation system
  • Coordinate environmental testing, audits, inspections and record keeping
  • Remain current on the state of the art in environmental control technologies
  • Perform data analysis to drive insights into environmental performance opportunities
  • Prepare regulatory compliance reports including emissions inventory, periodic air monitoring reports, Greenhouse Gas and periodic hazardous waste reporting
  • Review and summarizes technical reports, identifying key takeaways and action items
  • Communicate and engage with regulators
  • Work with consultants to monitor relevant regulatory changes
  • Work with the training department to create and update training documentation
  • Respond promptly and effectively to the needs of the business.



Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited College or University.
  • A minimum of five years of previous work experience in an environmental role in the manufacturing industry or as consultant.
  • Previous experience with facilitating regulators and on-site contractors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to champion change, promote a positive team atmosphere, and sustain a continuous improvement culture.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, ability to work well under pressure, sense of urgency, and attention to detail.




Physical Requirements:



  • Willingness and ability to wear a full-face respirator mask directly against skin (e.g. clean shaven if applicable), work in a hot/high temperature production facility, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness and ability to comply with safety protocols and company-provided decontamination measures which include utilizing private shower facilities upon leaving the plant environment with or without reasonable accommodation




Compensation Information:
Salary Range: $110,374 to $182,014. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
