The Office of Accounting Services at Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Accountant III.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position will be responsible for ensuring that payroll system transactions and related adjustments are posted correctly to the ledger and sub-ledger. Qualified candidates will have excellent time management skills, pay close attention to detail and be able to work efficiently in a high-pressure deadline driven environment. This position may require working on nights and weekends depending upon deadlines and workload.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Running reports to determine and correct errors prior to all payroll runs.

  • Troubleshooting and correcting budget errors after payroll runs.

  • Running payroll encumbrance journals and verifying accuracy.

  • Processing all payroll cost distribution changes.

  • Respond to inquiries from University Community.

  • Ensure accuracy of position and funding data in payroll system.

  • This position will also serve as backup to the Commitment Accounting Manager for the following duties:

  • Building all payroll journals in PeopleSoft Financials.

  • Reconciling HR payroll system to the General Ledger and Continuous Audit Data.

  • Processing prior period payroll redistributions.

  • Ensuring accuracy of fringe rate calculations.

  • Processing year-end payroll accruals and corrections.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Intermediate level Excel proficiency required.
  • PeopleSoft and OneUSG Connect experience preferred.
