POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Human Resources has an exciting opportunity on our HR Data and Onboarding team! We are searching for a Human Resources Assistant specifically supporting our Data Team.

The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Process Human Resources and Payroll transactions into our Human Capital Management system, Workday
  • Transactions processed in Workday include the following: terminations, job changes, graduate assistant appointments, compensation changes, one-time payments, supplemental pays, reappointments, add contingent workers, and background checks
  • Ensuring timely processing in accordance with payroll deadlines for all employee and appointment types

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

  • Sound judgment and discretion in referring inquiries to other HR staff members or units

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive and respectful environment

Proficiency in Office 365 Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) is preferred. Knowledgeable and understanding of Human Resources and Payroll polices, Workday, and the WorkLion Portal is preferred.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Human Resources Assistant - Intermediate Support, this position requires: General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Human Resources Assistant - Support, this position requires: General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $34,800.00 - $55,500.00.
