Job Description

The Production Supervisor will oversee and direct the safe and efficient operation of shifts at our Sedalia, MO, manufacturing site. The supervisor will ensure that direction and decisions are rooted in our most basic operational demand, that Data is the Source of Truth. The candidate will promote the WireCo Business System throughout the Sedalia manufacturing facility and support our 5-Year Strategic Growth Plan.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Run the Business by planning, organizing and directing the efforts of all machine operators and indirect labor employees in the Production Supervisor's area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all work instructions are followed in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Improve the Business by observation, monitoring and reviewing employees work habits to ensure the highest degree of safety, quality and productivity. Provide counseling and training when appropriate.
  • Review and approve employee's labor sheets to ensure accuracy and to identify production problems and operator productivity.
  • Perform timely performance evaluations & reviews.
  • Take corrective disciplinary action with employees as appropriate
  • Coordinate wire and material shortages with the Wire Room Supervisor.
  • Coordinate machine and equipment problems with the Maintenance Department to avoid and/or reduce machine down-time.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved.
  • Evaluate safety conditions, make recommendations to the Safety Manager, and conduct Safety Meetings with employees under your direction.
  • Assure adherence to Company policies, plant rules, safety, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping programs in a uniform and consistent manner.
  • Follow accurate, timely and visible inventory methods to enhance both physical and electronic inventory accuracies.
  • Uphold and advance Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and standards.
  • Maintain and improve operating performance of the operations department.
  • Assist in implementing improvement projects.
  • Ensure proactive planning and execution of activities within the operations department.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all materials.
  • Comply with plant infrastructure systems (JDE and HSE).
  • Ensure and assist adequate training of workforce by facilitating machine training.
  • Report all safety incidents and near misses and participate in investigations.
  • Participate in ongoing continuous education & training

Must be available for the night shift:M-Th- 7pm-5am

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Minimum five (5) year manufacturing experience
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS applications
  • Competent on JDE and HSE system for production transactions
  • Competent on setup/standard operations
  • Must be a member of the site's Emergency Response Action Team
  • Understanding of safe work practices, Process Safety Management, and incident investigation techniques
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with all employees
  • Leadership skills to develop a workforce through reward and recognition, coaching, corrective action and progressive discipline
  • Ability to continuously improve the business
  • Able to facilitate efficient cooperation between departments
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities
  • Ability to assess, prioritize and resolve plant issues

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Combination office/production floor environment.
  • Standing/walking on concrete floors for 12-hour shifts.
  • Pushing/pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs.

Materials and Equipment Directly Used

  • Standard office equipment including computer, mouse, keyboard, multifunction copier
  • Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes
  • Must be able to use JDE TranCollector scan guns and printers, calipers and micrometers, hand tools including wire cutters, plier's wrenches, files, spot-welding equipment, calculator, and computer. Required to properly use safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction

  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
