The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. Job Summary:

The Director, Regional Marketing & Communications is a national leadership role responsible for driving the performance of regional marketing and communications efforts across the country. This role oversees the Society's regional marketing and manages a team of Regional Marketing & Communications Managers to develop, execute and evaluate regional communications and marketing opportunities that support revenue generation, engagement, and mission awareness.

Reporting to the VP, Marketing, this position plays a key role in translating the Society's strategic priorities into actionable regional work plans. The Director provides strategic direction, supports tactical execution, and ensures all regional initiatives are data-informed, measurable, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Main Responsibilities:

Functional Leadership & Strategic Oversight

  • Lead and be accountable for the performance of the regional marketing and communications function

  • Provide clear strategic direction and tactical work planning guidance to regional managers and contributors, ensuring alignment with Society-wide goals.

  • Develop, implement, and manage integrated regional marketing strategies that drive measurable outcomes in awareness, engagement, and revenue.

Communications

  • Ensure regional messaging aligns with national brand strategy while remaining responsive to community-specific needs and opportunities.

  • Support media relations efforts to amplify regional impact and support campaign visibility at the local level.

Work Planning, Prioritization & Innovation

  • Create and oversee structured, results-driven work plans that translate enterprise strategy into regional execution.

  • Present innovative campaign and engagement ideas, ensuring pilots are tested and validated before broad rollout.

  • Actively manage work prioritization across the regional function through informed decision-making and strategic resource planning.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Supervise and support a team of Regional Marketing & Communications Managers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.

  • Build strong working relationships with Development, Programs, Digital, Creative, and Regional Leadership teams to ensure alignment.

  • Represent regional marketing needs in strategic planning discussions and champion the role of local engagement in driving enterprise outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Community Integration

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders-including field staff, media, volunteers, and community leaders-to expand the Society's regional presence and impact.

  • Ensure that the Society's voice is consistently represented and amplified at the community level through targeted, mission-driven communications.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5 + years in a management or related role

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively, delegate tasks, and foster collaboration.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify challenges, and develop effective solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information and ideas to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Flexibility to respond to changes in the industry and environment.

Location Requirement:

  • Remote - Flexible Location

  • Work is primarily performed remotely, however, when possible and necessary, teams meet in person to conduct the business of the organization and build team relationships.

Compensation | Benefits:

The estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000. Final offers will be based on the candidate'sgeographic location, consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.
