THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an intern, you will learn the fundamentals of vehicle diagnostic techniques, perform general repairs and maintenance on cars and light trucks, and assist in the repair of various automotive systems. This internship is ideal for students seeking to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. You will gain invaluable insights into the operation of automotive components, learn how to utilize specialized tools, and contribute to team efforts in ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet. In this role, you will be encouraged and expected to ask questions on any uncertainties or when encountering new issues and to practice and adhere to safety procedures at all times.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location
  • This internship will run September 2025 to June 2026.
  • If this will be the student's junior year, the option exists for the student to continue through senior year.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:

  • You must be at least 16 years of age by the internship start date.
  • You must be a junior or senior status for the upcoming 2025 - 2026 high school year

Additional Requirements:
  • Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
  • By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the school upon offer and acceptance of this position.
  • Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
  • Must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved vocational program that has provided preparation and training for the duties of this internship.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
